General Course Description

This course aim at equipping professional electricidal as well as electrical and automation engineers with the necessary PLC skills to enable them to develop, troubleshoot and design automated systems in their factories or forms that use automated systems in their mainstream businesses.

Various real-life automation equipment will be used in this training course including PLC’s, VFD’s, relays, switches, sensors, encoders, stepping motors, HMI’s and so on.

Course Outline

  • Introduction to the concept of electromechanical control systems.
  • Introduction to the PLC concept.
  • Basic PLC Ladder programming.
  • Advanced PLC Ladder programming.
  • PLC-HMI programming and design.
  • PLC Communication Protocols including the Modbus Protocol.
  • PLC digital inputs and digital input sensors such as Pressure Switches, Float switches, Limit switches, etc.
  • PLC analogue inputs and analogue input devices such as load cells, pressure transmitters, distance transmitters, temperate and humidity transmitters, encoders, etc.
  • PLC’s and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s, or wrongly called Inverters).
  • PLC analogue and digital outputs including temperature and speed controls, relays, servo motors, stepping motors, etc.

Course Duration: 28 Hours ( 4 hours / session)

Pre-Requisite Knowledge and Experience

  • 2 years of professional control panel electrical control experience AND / OR First university degree or diploma in Electricity or Automation-related field
